Who Am I
Hi! My name is Michelle and I love everything books! I am an avid reader that loves thrift bookstores and local libraries. I remember my mother taking me to the library as a young child. My love for books has grown tremendously over the years. The best place to be is between the pages of a book!
The first series of chapter books I remember reading was the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery. I recently re-read my favorite books in the series, and it was such a nostalgic experience.
One of the things I love doing is scrolling through book blogs and finding new books to save to my TBR list. One of the things I hate about most book blogs is that there are always spoilers. I have to be very careful not to stumble upon an important detail that will ruin the book, which is why I wanted to create a space where I review books, but do not give any spoilers. I really want to help you find the next book on your reading list.
There are currently 253 books on my TBR list, and the list is growing each day. I only read fiction, but usually try to include all genres of fiction to my list. Some of my favorites are psychological thrillers and historical fictions. I know, quite the opposites on the reading spectrum. Although I do read fantasy, Alice Hoffman is one of my favorite authors, however I mostly only read fantasy with a magical realm. Fantasy isn't at the top of my list, but I am always willing to try a book that is highly recommended.
When I plan my reading list, I try to mix it up and read novels that are from different genres of fiction. Unless it is a series, I usually don't read novels by the same author in a row. I feel like it is very easy to compare, and let's face it, the second book just never reaches the level of the first. But, if you take some time and read books in between, your mind does a little forgetting and you are able to enjoy the second book without constantly comparing it to the first.
So, without further ado...here are some quick questions I have answered to help you get to know me a little.
What book am I currently reading? Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead by Elle Cosimano
What is next book on my reading list? Victoria by Daisy Goodwin
What novel caused me the worst book hangover? A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
What is the saddest book I've read? The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
How do I pick the next book I want to read? I usually use the Goodreads Choice Awards Book Club monthly challenge. I don't always read 10 books a month, but it helps in picking out my next few books. It's really hard for me to decide which book I will read next, and this really helps narrow them down.
Am I using a reading app to track my reading? Yes, Goodreads.
How many books have I read so far this year? 35, which is down considerably from last year.
What book have I read the most? The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Who is my favorite author? There are way too many authors that I really like, so it is quite hard to narrow it down. But some of my favorites are: Abby Jiminez, Charles Martin, Alice Hoffman, John Marrs, and B.A. Paris.
Do I prefer to read classics or modern books? Definitely modern. Classics can sometimes be taxing on the brain.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you stick around.
